Dr. Lara Whitford, DPM
Dr. Lara Whitford began her studies at Ithaca College where she received her Bachelor of the Arts in Biology. She continued her education at University at Buffalo and Roswell Park Cancer Institute where she participated in cancer research and received a Masters in Natural Science. She then finished her medical education at Midwestern University where she became a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine. She recently completed her residency training in forefoot and reconstructive rearfoot/ankle surgery at SUNY Downstate Medical Center and Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn, New York.
Throughout her three years working at King County Hospital and SUNY Downstate Medical Center as a Resident and Chief Resident, she was exposed to a wide range of podiatric medical problems including diabetic foot care, amputations, ingrown nails, bunions, hammertoes, flat foot reconstruction, wound care, and foot and ankle fractures. She developed a deep respect for the under-served community that she treated in Brooklyn, which in turn motivated her to further her training by going on a medical mission trip to Guyana where she predominantly focused on pediatric clubfoot deformity.
Dr. Whitford is driven to provide her patients with the best quality care based on their medical and surgical needs. She is dedicated to providing a comprehensive treatment and preventive care plan with her patients to manage and improve their medical conditions. She is delighted to have joined an established podiatric practice group so that she may continue to learn and flourish in her career.
When she is not treating patients, Dr. Whitford is active in various projects in her community. She enjoys a healthy outdoor lifestyle being very involved in fitness and values spending time with her family and friends. Throughout all her training and travels, Dr. Whitford has found that a positive, “Can-Do” attitude is really the key to success in health and life.
